General Motors reports third-quarter 2026 earnings before markets open Tuesday, with Wall Street expecting relatively flat revenue compared to the prior year and a roughly 30% increase in adjusted earnings per share.

The company posted $48.59 billion in third-quarter 2025 revenue, net income of $1.3 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80. Current Wall Street estimates, compiled by LSEG, project performance in line with or slightly above those figures for the third quarter of 2026.

Investors will focus on whether GM raises its full-year 2026 guidance. The company has a history of raising forecasts during the year. GM currently projects 2026 adjusted earnings before interest and taxes between $14 billion and $16 billion, or $12 to $14 adjusted earnings per share. Adjusted automotive free cash flow guidance stands at $9.5 billion to $11.5 billion.

Wall Street analysts remain divided on a potential guidance raise. Concerns over slowing sales and rising commodity costs may weigh against any increase. JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta noted in an Oct. 11 investor note that while third-quarter 2026 results may come in line or slightly better than expectations, "investor focus is likely to be on 2027 revisions and we don't see results driving meaningful upside." Wall Street expects 2027 to prove difficult for the U.S. automotive industry broadly.

Beyond earnings and guidance, investors will watch for updates on GM's redesigned full-size pickup truck launch, warranty improvements and growth in the company's software and service operations.
